Permanent Lighting

Permanent lighting is a track of individually addressable LEDs fitted into the trim line of your roof. During the day it reads as part of the house. At night it becomes whatever you set it to.

That means no seasonal install, no seasonal takedown, and no waiting for a crew date in November. It also means the holidays are not the only thing it is good for. Team colors on game day, orange in October, red and pink in February, warm white on an ordinary Tuesday.

The first thing most people do is overuse it. Every colour, every pattern, every night. That wears off in about a fortnight and then the track settles into what it is genuinely good at, which is warm white on an ordinary evening and something specific on the nights that matter.

The second thing people notice is that it changes when they turn the outside lights on. A house with permanent track tends to get lit earlier in the evening and stay lit later, because there is no cost to flipping it on and no ladder involved in changing it. That is a small thing that compounds across a year.

The maintenance question is the fair one. Individually addressable LEDs do fail eventually, and when one does it is a section rather than the whole run. Because the track is fitted into the trim line rather than clipped on seasonally, a repair is a service call rather than a re-install.

Control is an app. You pick colours, patterns and a schedule, and after the first fortnight most people settle on two or three looks and a timer rather than changing it nightly.

The genuinely useful part is the schedule. Set it once and the house lights itself at dusk and turns off at whatever hour you choose, every night, without anyone thinking about it.

The patterns that chase and fade are fun for a week and then most households turn them off. We mention it because it is the feature people buy on and the one they use least.
